BOOKED:

Police have booked three whatsapp group admins, Javed Ahmad, Syed Tahir Bukhari and Raja Hilal from Budgam, Baramulla and Pulwama respectively, for allegedly airing rumours and fabricated information to the people. Police have registered an FIR against the three and booked them under relevant sections. Police have investigated into various updates and posts surfaced on WhatsApp and other social networking sites and more arrests are expected in this regard.

DEDICATED:

A readymade garment showroom in Srinagar has dedicated some space to the orphan girls to showcase their designer wear under the banner Aash, The Hope – a local NGO. These clothes are designed by the destitute girls who would earn on every purchase. The space was inaugurated on Wednesday by one of the Valley’s radio jockeys.

LOST:

Nargis, a 17 year girl student, lost her vision in left eye after she was assaulted by her neighbour in Hakbara Sumbal, Bandipora. Police have said that two girl students, incidentally neighbours also, from class 11th had a tiff off over a petty matter in Higher Secondary School Hajin. The Principal of the school resolved the matter amicably, however, one of the girls complained to her father who happens to be a police constable about the matter and in a fit of rage, the father of the girl Muzaffar Mir along with other family members attacked the house of the friend of her daughter and hit her eye with a stone.

PASSED:

A bill to replace the system of judges choosing judges was passed in the Lok Sabha after Government dropped a controversial provision that required unanimity in recommendation if President seeks reconsideration. The National Judicial Appointments Commission (NJAC) bill, 2014 was passed by voice vote without any opposition. Under the statute amendment bill, Chief Justice of India (CJI) will head the NJAC. Besides the CJI, the judiciary would be represented by two senior judges of the Supreme Court. Two eminent personalities and the Law Minister will be the other members of the proposed body.

FOUND:

Two persons were found dead under suspicious circumstances at two places in Valley, prompting police to launch investigations to ascertain the causes of their death. One among them is a Nepal resident who was found dead outside a spice mill where he used to work and the other is a local, whose identification is yet to be done. Police have registered FIRs in the both the cases and investigations are on.

ARRESTED:

Police in Jammu have arrested three absconders, Tarlochan Singh, Parvant Singh and Satveer Singh, from Kud, Udhampur who have been evading arrest for past five years. They were wanted under the sections 341, 323 and 34 RPC.

SURRENDERED:

Five girls who were the beneficiaries of the Board of Professional Entrance Examination (BOPEE) paper scam surrendered before the Anti-corruption court in Srinagar and they were sent to Central Jail Srinagar for judicial custody. The girls were selected in the MBBS course in Government Medical College Srinagar in 2013 by fraudulent means. Crime Branch had issued arrest warrant against them but they were evading arrest. They had applied for bail before the Jammu and Kashmir High Court but it had rejected their plea and had declared them as proclaimed offenders.

MISSING:

20 Indian soldiers posted in border area, most of them in Jammu and Kashmir, have gone missing from 1996 to 2010, according to an RTI reply, reported a news Magazine. As per the reply given by the Ministry of External Affairs, 18 soldiers went missing from Jammu and Kashmir while two disappeared from Gujarat. Though, the RTI reply did not mention anything about the reasons behind the disappearance of the soldiers or their present condition.

REJECTED:

The state high court rejected the government scheme for poor girls and issued show cause notices for contempt of court to Chief Secretary and Commissioner Secretary Social Welfare Department for not framing a policy in tune with the court directions on providing assistance to around 4 lakh poor girls in the State. The court had directed the Government to provide assistance to the poor and destitute girls of the State and form a policy. The Government formed a policy but it as per court is not in tune with its directions.

INJURED:

Within three days of the high level flag meeting at Octroi Post, Suchetgarh, Rangers resorted to heavy mortar shelling and firing in several forward villages of Arnia sector injuring four persons including two BSF jawans and two civilians and causing extensive damage to civilian property, which included a marriage hall and houses of the people, a Jammu based daily newspaper reported. Pakistan also claimed that their two civilians, including one woman, were killed at forward villages of Charwa and Khokhar in Sialkot district of Lahore province in retaliatory firing by Indian Army man.

COMITTED:

Two youth hanged themselves in Sopore and Srinagar in two different incidents. Both were found hanging in their bed rooms. Police have registered cases under relevant sections and are trying to ascertain the reasons behind their suicides.

STABBED:

Rohan Thappa and Montu attacked Rattan Bahadur, 30, with sharp edged weapon after having a verbal dual with each other, police says. The injured immediately was rushed to the hospital and is undergoing the treatment there. All the persons involved in the incident are having criminal cases registered with different police stations. A case in this regard has been registered at Bagh-e-Bahu Police Station and manhunt has been launched to nab the accused.

RUN OVER:

Shabir Ahmad Ganie, 22, resident of Loktipora Arwani, Anantnag, died after he was run over by a train near Hassanpora. The body of the deceased was handed over to his relatives for last rites. Kulgam Police has registered a case in this regard.
