Killed

Two villagers, identified as Muhammad Akram and his 13-year-old son Aslam were killed and seven people including Akram’s wife, his three children and a BSF constable were injured in heavy firing by the Pakistan Rangers in Jodafarm village of RS Pura near International Border on Saturday, police said.

Accused

Accusing Army of encouraging youth to take drugs and alcohol the residents of Lassipora in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district who has decided social boycott of those involved in drug use, claimed that Army men refrain them to initiate action against the drug addicts in the area. Locals say there area has become den for drug addicts where in broad day light, scores of youth could be seen taking drugs and alcohol.

Composed

A 7th standard student from Machama hamlet of Tral town in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district has reportedly composed a delightful book, “Science Affirms Existence of Allah”. Inspired by many Islamic scholars like Dr Zakir Naik and Dr Asrar, the young school lad, was helped by his grandfather Syed Ghulam Mohi-Ud-Din in penning down the book.

Registered

A treason case was registered against Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit and Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir Shabir Shah in a petition filed by advocate Sushil Kumar Mishra on the orders of Allahabad-UP Chief Judicial Magistrate. Pakistan envoy Abdul Basit said it is ‘a frustration on part of government of India’ while as Shabir Ahmad Shah said no such tactics can alter his stand about the Kashmir.

Handover

Army on Sunday handed over three persons to Tanghdar police station, who were held last evening during their return from Pakistan administered Kashmir to this side of Line of Control (LoC). The three persons who had allegedly crossed the LoC were found without arms and ammunitions by an army search party.

In a major setback to Congress in Jammu and Kashmir, two-time Congress MP and former minister Lal Singh Monday joined BJP. He was inducted in BJP in the presence of the saffron party chief Amit Shah.

After a relentless investigation, Srinagar police tracked a Sumo and its driver who knocked a school girl Khushboo Posh daughter of Mohammad Aslam Posh resident of Batwara, Srinagar near JK Bose crossing when she along with her friends were returning from the BOSE office on 16th November, last year.

Arrested

On a tip off, a police party of Police Station Batamaloo recovered 8 Kgs Fuki from the possessions   of Mandeep Singh son of Gurchain Singh and Kulwant Singh son of Ravinder Singh residents of Gagrawan, Ludhiana, Punjab at Bus Stand Batamaloo. Both the accused were arrested and a case FIR number 116/14 under section 15/18 NDPS was registered against the duo.

Pilgrimage

The first batch of pilgrims from Jammu and Kashmir for Hajj 2014 left the summer capital of Srinagar Wednesday on a direct flight to Madina in Saudi Arabia. The 275 pilgrims boarded the Air India flight from Srinagar to Madina at the Srinagar International Airport on Wednesday morning. This year, 7,007 pilgrims from Jammu and Kashmir are scheduled to perform the holy Muslim pilgrimage of Hajj through the state government quota.
