Srinagar: Thousands of people on Tuesday participated in the funeral prayers of slain Jaish-e- Muhammad commander Noor Mohammad Tantray alias Noor Trali at their ancestral village in south Kashmir.

He was killed in a nocturnal encounter at Samboora area in south Kashmir’s  Pulwama district.

Reports said that the funeral prayers of Noor Mohammad were offered at least eight times in Darganaie Gund village of Tral to accommodate the rush of people who were marching from different areas of south Kashmir.

Local sources said that a few militants appeared during the funeral who offered gun-salute to their slain commander.

As the body of Noor Mohammad reached his native village, a pall of gloom descended and people irrespective of gender and age reached his house to pay homage to the slain militant.The mourners chanted Pro-freedom, pro-Islam, and pro-militant slogans.

Meanwhile, a complete shutdown was observed in various parts of Pulwama district, Kakapora, Pampore, Samboora, Awantipora and Tral against the killing of the top JeM commander. All shops and business establishments are closed in the district and traffic off the roads.
