The 3-Member Sub-Committee of the Press Council of India (PCI) headed by S N Sinha arrived here Sunday on a week-long visit to Kashmir to discuss the issues facing the media in J&K.
The other members of the Sub-Committee include C K Nayak, Dr Suman Gupta and Naveen Joshi.

The committee members were received at the Srinagar International Airport by the Director Information and other officers of the Directorate of Information.

During their stay in the Valley, the PCI Sub-Committee members will be meeting the Media Owners, Editors and Journalists at Srinagar, Islamabad and Baramulla to take first-hand appraisal of the issues confronting the Media in Kashmir.

The Sub-Committee members are also scheduled to meet the Governor, N N Vohra, the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, former Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, Information Minister, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali, Finance Minister, Dr Haseeb A Drabu and Director General Police Dr S P Vaid.

The Sub-Committee will be visiting Jammu and Ladakh separately to interact with the media-persons there. The Sub-Committee had earlier visited the state in June 2012.
