Awantipora police on Monday arrested an ex-militant and three over ground workers involved in Pampore grenade attack.

The spokesman said on the basis of a specific input Police Awantipora along with 110 Bn CRPF and 50 RR arrested Sajad Ahmad Bhat son of Ali Mohammad Bhat, a resident of Hergam Wuyan (Pak trained Ex-militant) and after questioning he disclosed that he along with other OGWs of banned JeM outfit were involved in the grenade throwing incidents in Pampore and Khrew area.

Following persons of the said module were apprehended along with arms/ammunition:-

Umar Gani Sheikh Son of Abdul Gani Sheikh, resident of Drangbal Pampore (Age 26 years)

Jan Mohammad Khanday @ Jehangir, Son of Abdul Rashid Khanday Resident of Meej Pampore (Age 30 years).

Owais Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Rashid resident of Danak Mohalla Khrew ( Age 23 years)

Muzaffar Hussain Bhat son of Ghulam Mohammad resident of Tulibagh Pampore (Age 30 years).

It is pertinent to mention here that JeM which was earlier having a strong basis in Tral had been dislodged from the area by conducting intelligence-based operations in which some of the top commanders were killed and a large number of hideouts were busted, police said.

Case FIR NOs 08/2018 U/Ss 18, 18B, 20, 39 ULA(P) act and 02/2018 U/Ss 307 RPC, 3/5 Exp Sub Act stands registered in P/S Pampore/Khrew and the investigation have been taken up.
