Juvenile Justice Workshop

A one day workshop on Juvenile justice for police officers of Budgam District in association with an NGO, Save the Children, was organized in DPL Budgam Monday.

“The workshop was held to sensitize the officers in the field about Juvenile justice integrated child protection. The work shop was attended by over 60 officers and personal of District Budgam including SP Budgam, ASP Budgam, DYSP DAR and DSP Headquarters Budgam and SHOs of the district,” an official statement said this evening.

Mohammad Sharif Bhat chief organizer and Mahrukh from Save the Child gave detailed lecture to the participants on the Juvenile justice and child protection, the statement said.

Speaking on the occasion Mahrukh said that twenty five years of conflict in J&K has caused severe disruption to the education and the children have become more vulnerable to exploitation and violence in the state.

She further said that the one-day Workshop is  aimed to enable the police officer of the district for better understanding of the laws and will help them to make use of all the provisions in the best interest of the concerned child, the statement added.

SP Budgam Fayaz Ahmad said that he hoped that the workshop will strengthen the enforcement process and bring forth greater accountability by all dealing with the implementation of the provisions of the Act.
