Minister for Revenue, Relief & Rehabilitation Syed Basharat Ahmed Bukhari today informed the House that the process for assessment of damages incurred to assets due to cross-border firing/shelling is underway and due compensation as per SRE norms, that is, 50% of the damages or Rs 1 lakh whichever is less in such cases, will be sanctioned after assessment is completed.

The Minister said Rs 23.82 lakh has been released out of Chief Minister’s Relief Fund as compensation to owners whose livestock   were killed or injured due to cross-border shelling.

The Minister, while replying to a question by MLA Chhamb Dr Krishan Lal informed the house that 47 houses have been damaged due to cross-border firing/shelling in Chhamb constituency.

He further said that an amount of Rs 1.77 lakh has already been released in favor of SDM, Khour for disbursement of ex-gratia relief among the owners whose livestock were killed and an amount of Rs 4.78 lakh has been released in favor of the Animal Husbandry Department for treatment of animals injured due to border shelling.

Legislators Rajiv Sharma, Er Abdul Rashid and Javed Rana raised supplementary questions to highlight issues pertaining to their respective areas. They called for expeditious assessment of damages caused so that compensation is provided to the sufferers at the earliest.
