Terming the unity among the pro-freedom groups of Kashmir as a win-win situation, Hurriyat (M) executive and Muslim Conference chairman Professor Abdul Gani Bhat Wednesday said UN resolutions play a vital role in resolution of the Kashmir issue.

Talking to KNS, Professor Bhat, who dominated the news headlines in the past after his reports of meeting Mufti Mohammad Sayeed came to fore, said unity among separatist groups in Kashmir would mitigate the peoples’ sufferings who are yearning since decades for the resolution of Kashmir.  He added that UN resolutions could play a vital role in resolution of the long pending issue of Kashmir.

Bhat maintained that if the pro-freedom groups of Kashmir could somehow forge unity and unanimously tread a single path, then it would be tent amount to the wandering boat finding the shore.

The senior Hurriyat leader was however quick to add that if the unity is forged among the separatist groups then responsibilities must be accorded purely on merit and ability while nepotism must be shown the door. He also pitched for equality and transparent mechanism in the system of pro-resistance groups so that no chaos and confusion would ever be allowed to dominate the scenes.

He maintained further that the mainstream and pro-freedom can never come under one roof as their respective stands and ideologies are poles apart “How could there be a consensus between pro- India and Pro-freedom parties of Kashmir. It is not possible indeed,” claimed Bhat.
