Hailing Srinagar Municipal Corporation  (SMC) for its action against violators of law in Nursinggarh and Balgarden, the residents of the twin areas have appealed SMC authorities to initiate similar action against left out business outlets set up in the localities.

“Since the action of SMC, fresh business establishments including godowns have come up in the twin colonies in violation of rules and in certain cases, even Court orders were not honoured,” a delegation of the residents under the banner of welfare committee told Kashmir Wire.

They said that setting up of these outlets have caused mental agony to the residents due to frequent loading and unloading of goods by the businessmen during night and morning hours.

The delegation said setting up of business outlets in residential areas goes against the established law. The outlets besides giving rise to the nuisance have vitiated the calm atmosphere of the residential areas.

The welfare committee on behalf of the people of the areas placed on record their sincere gratitude and thanks to the commissioner SMC and the district development commissioner for sealing off the business establishments in the residential colony earlier.

They also appealed the Police department to ensure that car parking in the residential colony is avoided.

Meanwhile, another delegation from Karan Nagar area demanded immediate action against the shopkeepers who have made it a habit to bring their merchandise goods on footpaths to block the road for pedestrians which causes accidents. (Kashmir Wire)
