There was some respite for residents of Kashmir from intense cold as the minimum temperature raised by several degrees at most places in the valley and Ladakh region. There was a considerable improvement in the minimum temperature in the valley and Ladakh region on Sunday night.

Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded a minimum temperature of 4.5 degrees Celsius, nearly three notches up from previous night.

The famous tourist resort Pahalgam recorded minus 1.1, while the ski resort Gulmarg recorded minus 6.5 degree Celsius, respectively.

Kargil region of Jammu and Kashmir was at minus 12.6, the coldest town in the state followed by Leh at minus 2.1 degrees Celsius.

In the Jammu region, the night’s lowest temperature was 10 in Jammu city, 9.4 in Katra town, 4 in Batote, minus 2 in Bannihal, 2.5 in Bhaderwah and 8.6 degrees Celsius in Udhampur.

Meanwhile, the MET office has forecast mainly dry weather in the state over the next week.
