Srinagar: While reacting on the remarks of BJP national General Secretary Ram Madhav and statement of state’s industries Minister Chander Prakash Ganga, senior CPI (M) leader and MLA Kulgam Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami Saturday said “comments like shoot down stone-pelters and justifying human shield” speaks volumes about times to come.

While Madhav had approved Army’s use of human shield in Kashmir by saying ‘Everything is fair in love and war’, Ganga had called for shooting down the “stone-pelters and traitors.”

“Madhav is one of the top functionaries of the BJP and he is trying to justify human shield. The person of his stature justifying human shield speaks volumes about times to come. It is a mindset which will have disastrous consequences,” he said in a statement.

Asking the PDP to introspect, he said, “The PDP used to claim that its ‘Agenda of Alliance’ with the BJP is a sacred document. Is there anything sacred left in the ‘Agenda of Alliance’ now? In 2015 we had said it (PDP-BJP alliance) is an opportunistic alliance but now we also say it is an illegitimate alliance. Before it is too late, the PDP should introspect and better is they quit this disastrous alliance. Sooner the better.”

Reminding the BJP that comments of Madhav and Ganga have potential to aggravate the already sensitive situation in Kashmir, the CPI (M) leader said that New Delhi must remember that every death in Kashmir is leading to further protests and the army and CRPF personnel are being put in the invidious position of having to resort to brutal force against teenagers who are armed with nothing more lethal than stones.”

He said that the lack of a political response and reliance on force and repression has virtually sundered any relationship between the people of Kashmir and the Indian State. “The BJP-led government at the centre has adopted the strategy of using force to suppress the Kashmiri people to serve their cynical political interests of advancing the Hindutva agenda and making Kashmir an issue for rousing feelings of Hindu nationalism in the rest of the country,” he added.
