An army personnel died Monday after he fell from speeding vehicle following an accidental fire from his service rifle near Bemina here in central Kashmir.

A police official told Srinagar based news agency Global News Service that the Sepoy Chander Mohan (belt no. 13772953) of 28 RR was on way from Srinagar to Kupwara in an army convoy when his service rifle went off accidentally near Bemina in outskirt’s of Srinagar city.

He suffered bullet wounds in neck and subsequently fell down from the speeding army vehicle.

Mohan suffered multiple injuries and was immediately shifted by fellow colleagues to army’s 92 base hospital here where doctors declared him brought dead.

Mohan belonged to Akhnoor, Jammu and his body has been sent to his native village, the official said.

Meanwhile, an army man Sanjev Kumar (No.3206940 N) of 45 RR was injured gravely after his service rifle went off accidentally inside camp at Z-Galli area of Machil sector in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district, the official said.

The injured was immediately shifted to military hospital Drugmulla for treatment, the official added.
