A 17-year-old boy was killed and many sustained pellet injuries after clashes broke out between the government forces and youth in Shopian district on Wednesday.

The clashes erupted soon after the encounter broke out between the forces and militants in Chaigund area of district Shopian.

Reports said that several youths including two girls have sustained injuries after the government forces used teargas shells and pellets to disperse the protesters.

Among the injured youth, one identified as Shakir Ahmed Mir, a resident of Qalampora area of Shopian was rushed to PHC Rajpora where he was declared brought dead. while others have been shifted to Srinagar hospital for the treatment.
