Spinners Aamir Aziz and Parvez Rasool caught Andhra in a spin web and bundled them out for 255 to help Jammu and Kashmir take a crucial first-innings lead in their Group C Ranji Trophy match on Saturday.

The match is being played at Brabourne Stadium Mumbai.

Aziz, who had a tally of six wickets from six games prior to this match, took five for 62 with left arm spin, while his more experienced partner Rasool grabbed three for 40 bowling off spin on day three of the four-day game at the Brabourne Stadium.

Andhra were dismissed post tea in just under 100 overs to give J&K a first innings lead of 79 runs. J&K had scored 334 in their first essay.

In the remaining time, the northern outfit made 31 for two, for an overall lead of 110.

At stumps, opener Shubham Khajuria (13) was the unbeaten batsman after J&K’s one-down Ian Chauhan fell in the last over, dismissed by Andhra left arm spinner Bhargav Bhatt who also got rid of opener Adil Reshi.

Earlier, starting the day at 72 for two, Andhra were in deep trouble at lunch with the score reading 156 for 6, including the wicket of captain Hanuma Vihari who was run out for 19.

Some resolute batting by senior player Ravi Teja, who top scored with 81 off 184 balls, and good rearguard action from no. 8 Ashwin Hebbar (38) enabled Andhra to cross the 250 mark.

Teja and Hebbar put on a partnership of 94 runs for the seventh wicket. Both were dismissed by Aziz.

Teja had previously added 66 runs for the sixth wicket with AG Pradeep, who made a quick 47 with eight fours before he was dismissed by Rasool.

Brief scores:

J&K: 334 and 31 for two (S Khajuria 13 batting).

Andhra 1st innings: 255 (DB Ravi Teja 81, AG Pradeep 47; A Aziz 5/62, Parvez Rasool 3/40).
