Srinagar

The Srinagar Jammu highway has been thrown open for one way traffic on Friday after remaining suspended for about four days due to snow and landslides.

An official from Traffic department said that one-way traffic has been resumed on Srinagar-Jammu highway on Friday, and vehicles will ply from Jammu to Kashmir valley.

The official added that no vehicle will be allowed from opposite direction to avoid any traffic jam or accident as the road is still very narrow at some places due to landslides. “Normal two-way traffic on the highway will be resumed only after the road is declared safe for normal traffic movement,” he said.

Traffic on the highway was disrupted for four days since the recent snowfall on Monday and alternate landslides in Ramban and Banihal area of Srinagar Jammu highway.

The Srinagar Jammu is the only road linking the Kashmir valley with the rest of the world.
