CPI (M) leader  MLA Kulgam M Y Tarigami on Wednesday raised the issue of noncompliance with the directives of house committees.

He alleged disrespect to elected MLAs starts from the offices of the ministers and trickles down to offices at the grassroots.

Taking part in the debate on the motion of grants for Revenue department, Tarigami said he gets an acknowledgment of a letter from Prime Minister’s office but the ministers in the government not to talk or reply or not bother to pick up call and hear him on the issues concerning people.

He said that government should take concrete steps to free the land from the grabbers and he added that we want to know who is land grabbers.

He alleged that officers mostly skip house committee meetings and never bother to cite reasons for their non-participation in the meetings during which the issues concerning the working of departments are discussed and appropriate directions are issued to departments.

He also raised the issue of political appointments particularly defeated candidates appointed as Vice-Chairpersons in corporations, autonomous organizations, and public undertakings, Tarigami sought explanations from the finance minister on behalf of the government for rehabilitating defeated candidates and disrespecting the elected representatives.
