Medical authorities Saturday suspended an OT technician for allegedly molesting a woman who was admitted in the OT ward of JVC Hospital in Srinagar.

The family members of the woman patient (name withheld) soon after the incident ransacked the hospital equipment and caused damage to oxygen cylinders and medical machinery in presence of hospital staff.

“Still after getting anaesthesia, I was a bit conscious. The technician tried to molest me and I resisted,” the woman from Bemina locality told CNS.

The technician in a bid to save himself from the wrath of the agitated people surrendered before police.

Medical Superintendent soon after the incident issued suspension order vide number 188 of 2015 in black and white that reads, “as confirmed by Principal/Director SKIMS and EOSG pending enquiry into the case, Muhammad Iqbal Khan (Code number 233) OT Technician is placed under suspension with immediate effect. “We have no reason to refute the claims made by the woman patient. We have suspended the technician and a time bound inquiry has been ordered into the incident,” Medical Superintendent JVC Hospital Bemina said.
