Right now NHPC is about to commission two power projects – Nimoo-Bazgoo and Chutak in Leh and Kargil with a cumulative installed capacity of 89 MW. J&K government’s wholly owned PDC has also identified a number of projects that it intends to set up in near future. Planners have identified a potential of 2060 MW on Indus basin water resources in Ladakh of which more than 1956 MW is still untouched.
