Shabir Shah, the leader of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), is apparently taking his pellet-victim-management to a new level. He has asked the potential eye-donors to register their names with his office, a statement issued by his party said.

Shah has already announced that he will donate his eyes after he dies. In another development he has adopted Insha Mir, the Shopian teenager, who lost both her eyes to the pellets.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, Shah said he will “never leave these victims at the mercy of the situation but will utilise every possible effort to take them out of this pathetic condition”.

He appealed “generous” people desirous of donating their eyes after death to pellet victims to register themselves at party’s head office at Budshah Colony, Sanat Nagar.

“The condition of pellet victims is making me restless and I’m deeply concerned of their plight,” the statement said. “My conscience won’t allow me to leave them at the mercy of the situation. I’ll try my level best to bring back light to their dark world. The victims shouldn’t let pessimism and despondency sway them as the whole (Kashmiri) nation will back them up.”

Shah appealed people particularly the affluent persons to show generosity by extending every possible assistance to the pellet victims saying “they are like our own children”.
