SRINAGAR: Hamdard Grammar School, a leading educational institute in south Kashmir region celebrated its annual day at Hamdardabad, Tral on Sunday.

Apart from students and their parents, a galaxy of intellectuals, top government officials of the locality, educationists and eminent personalities attended the function.

The students of the school presented scintillating performances, enacted skits, presented songs and exhibited humorous plays and poetry in English, Urdu, Kashmiri and Arabic languages.

Deputy Commissioner Pulwama GM Dar was the chief guest on the occasion while Additional deputy commissioner Tral Riyaz Ahmad Malik was the guest of honour.

The programme began with hoisting of the school flag followed by a lively parade of the students donning olive green uniforms. The parade was highly appreciated by the audience.

Deputy Commissioner GM Dar in his address appreciated the efforts of the school management in building a befitting institution in the area. He said that Tral region has been historically on the forefront in educational pursuits and produced personalities with leadership qualities in all walks of life.

He said he was highly impressed by the students’ performances and excellence acquired by them in curricular and co-curricular activities. “It is imperative to build institutions of repute and excellence to develop a strong society for a bright future,” Dar said. He said that the exhibition of communal harmony was the special highlight of the programme. “It was soothing to watch recitation of Quran and naat followed by Gurubani,” he said. He appreciated the teachers and staff of the school for honing the talent of students.

The deputy commissioner announced cash rewards for KG students who left the audience spellbound by their fairy-song performance.

Mementos were presented to meritorious students of the school who excelled in academics and co-curricular activities. They included previous students who secured top positions in JKBOSE matriculation examinations.
Principal of the school Reyaz Ahmad Shah welcomed the guests. Six students of the school conducted the proceedings of the event.

In his speech, Chairman of the school Khursheed Wani highlighted the essence of building strong educational institutions for safeguarding the future generations.

The parents appreciated the efforts of the school management to host such a mega event despite inclement weather in the sprawling campus of the school.
