Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested two drug peddlers in Sumbal area of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Sunday and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

Police Spokesman said in a statement that acting on a specific information, a police party headed by SDPO Sumbal Sheikh Tahir Amin and SHO Police Station Sumbal Inspector Mehboob Banday raided a house in Ganastaan area of Sumbal and apprehended a drug peddler identified as Nazir Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Nabi Bhat resident of Galastaan Chekh. 1.5 kilograms of Charas was recovered from his possession. Case FIR No. 159/2017 under section 8/20 NDPS Act stands registered in this regard.

Meanwhile in another incident, on a specific information, a Naka was laid at Ajas and a drug peddler identified as Mubashir Ahmad Lone son of Ghulam Rasool Lone resident of Lone Mohalla, Ajas was intercepted. During search 155 grams of Charas was recovered from his possession. Accordingly, case FIR NO. 156/2017 under section 8/20 NDPS Act was registered in Police Station Sumbal.
