Unidentified gunmen on Wednesday evening fired upon a youth at Herwan Bomia Sopore town of district Baramulla.
Unconfirmed reports said that the deceased is a resident of Soura, Srinagar but was living with his uncle in Sopore.
The deceased has been identified as Arif Ahmad Sofi 25, son of Mohammad Maqbool Sofi and is currently living in Wahipora Unisoo area of Sopore town.
However, Arif was rushed to the local hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
