SRINAGAR: Vessu belt in Qazigund has shut the shutters to remember Basit Ahanger on his first death anniversary. Ahanger was killed, days after he enrolled himself for a BBA course degree.
Basit was on way home after a daylong tense battling between police and protesters when pellets hit his legs. It was followed by a chase and beating by police. He was caught and allegedly thrown into a stream 20 ft down. it was on September 4, 2016.
After the cops and CRPF left, locals retrieved Basit and took him to PHC Vessu where from he was referred to District hospital Islamabad where he was declared “brought dead”. Doctors said he had deep wound in his head.
