SRINAGAR: Governor, N N Vohra inaugurated ‘Srinagar Youth Mela’ organised by GOC XV Corps, at SKICC Srinagar here today. Governor was accompanied by First Lady Mrs Usha Vohra, an official spokesman said.

With the panoramic view of Dal lake encompassing the venue of the Mela, the event witnessed enthusiastic participation of youth from various parts of the Valley, the official spokesman said.

Later, Governor distributed prizes to the winners of the over 5 km Chinar Shikara Race and all those who participated in Mountain Terrain Bike Expedition, from Bandipora to Srinagar.

This was followed by colourful programme in which the winners of the singing, dance and music competitions presented their performances; which included a scintillating piece presented by the NCC Cadets. The Governor and First Lady distributed prizes to the large number of youth who had done well in various events.

The grand finale of the Mela was a programme of heart throwing songs by the eminent singer, Lucky Ali who had come all the way from Bangalore with his entire troupe.

Governor congratulated and complimented Lt. General J.S. Sandham, GOC XV Corps, for taking the valuable initiative of organizing the Srinagar Youth Mela – 2017 which resulted in attracting hundreds of youth from all over Kashmir. He lauded the Army’s role in providing an opportunity to the society at large to be able to participate in an exciting programme which provided entertainment to a very large audience. Appreciating the contribution of GOC XV Corps Governor hoped that such events shall continue to be organized in the future.

This is the third musical event in Srinagar. It was first Abha Hanjura, apparently invited by the Cultural Academy, followed by Home Ministry’s Adnan Sami’s concert. Now it was the day of Lucky Ali.
