A minor girl was mauled to death by a wild animal in higher reaches of Uri area of Baramulla district on Tuesday.

The girl, identified as Uzma Fatima (4), daughter of Iqbal Hussain, a resident of Chollal Kals, was attacked by animal last night, sources said.

Her body was recovered by the locals from the Nallah early today, they said.

Meanwhile, the of the residents of the Chollal Kals, Dara gutilliya , Nambla and other adjacent villages have alleged that the Wildlife department has been ignoring their repeated pleas to prevent wild animal attacks in their villages.

“The wild animals have not ventured into our villages for the first time. We have time to time appealed the wildlife department to take cognizance of this, but to no avail,” said a resident of Chollal Kals.
