The Jammu and Kashmir Wildlife department Srinagar on Saturday has recovered five punt guns from poachers in Wullar Lake Srinagar.

An official said that the department has recovered five punt guns till now, “the operations are on and there are more recoveries expected,” he said.

The official added that such guns are being illegally manufactured by locals in areas near Wullar lake Srinagar. The guns are being freely used for hunting migratory birds in Wullar and its adjoining wetlands.

“The punt guns and ammunition are being manufactured by locals, from September 2017 to January 18 we have recovered five, guns,” an official added.
