SRINAGAR

A youth was injured in alleged firing by cops when people were protesting against the Gaza carnage in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Friday.

The youth was identified as Aamir Ahmad Parray and has been hit in the chest. “He was critically injured and was taken to Islamabad hospital,” a local said. He added that Aamir was later shifted to Srinagar.

Hurriyat patriarch Syed Ali Geelani had called for protests after Friday prayers against the Gaza carnage at the hands of Israel.

Reports said that forces had to use tear gas shells to disperse protestors. Local sources said that forces also resorted to firing resulting in the injury to Amir.
