In a grave blunder on part of the Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE), few Biology papers were found in Chemistry packets in three examination centres of Government Girls Higher Secondary School KhotiBagh.

The Common Entrance Test (CET) for Medical and Engineering Courses was conducted in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, with more than 15,000 candidates appearing in the examination.

On Saturday, the examination of Physics and Chemistry papers was held at various places, including various degree colleges in Srinagar. The Biology paper scheduled to be held on Sunday was surprisingly found mingled with Chemistry papers.

Sources told a local news agency, CNS that as soon as the packets containing Chemistry papers were opened at Centre numbers 7, 8 and 9 of Government Girls Higher Secondary School KhotiBagh, few Biology papers were found in the packets.

The Board officials, including Superintendents and the Principal Khotibagh were surprised and they immediately informed higher-ups of BOPEE.

Terming it as a grave blunder the Principal GGHSS Khotibagh, Gulsan Sangeen told CNS that the packets were opened in front of BOPEE observers and the matter was brought into the notice of higher-ups soon after the Biology papers were found in Chemistry packets. “I don’t know whether Biology paper will be postponed or not as it is the baby of the Board. My duty was to inform the observers as these papers were found in my school,” the Principal said.

Scores of students alleged that BOPEE is playing with the carriers of the students. “How BOPEE can assure us that its officials have not provided these papers beforehand to the wards of affluent ones. Instead of taking stern action against the guilty BOPEE will simply now postpone the examination and will put thousands of students in trouble. It is a serious matter and it should be thoroughly probed,” one of the students Rumisa Shafi told CNS.

When contacted, Chairman BOPEE, RD Sharma told CNS that it is a human error and such errors have occurred in various examinations. “Let me assure you the Board will take stern action against the guilty. We have decided to postpone the Biology paper that was scheduled to be conducted in the morning on Sunday,” Sharma said.

When asked that students are leveling allegations against the BOPEE, Sharma said that it is only a human error and students should not worry at all. “It is the duty of the media to restore confidence among students and please make the students believe that these papers were not leaked. If it would have been like that then how could we then postpone the examination of Biology paper,” he said adding the no official is involved in this blunder.

Pertinently, the credibility and authenticity of the results declared by BOPEE in June 2012 were questioned by parents and aspirants as they had alleged that then BOPEE Chairman had sold CET papers for a sum of Rs 65 lakh which fetched an amount of Rs 5 Crore to brokers as they allegedly sold those papers to affluent one.
