#Day25: Curfew, restriction continues in Kashmir; Women protest in Panth Chowk

Authorities continued curfew and restrictions on Tuesday as Kashmir remained shut for the 25th consecutive day.

Police said that the curfew would continue in some areas of south Kashmir while restrictions under section 144 of the CrPc (Criminal Procedure Code) will remain in force in Srinagar city and other localities after Asr prayers.

On Tuesday morning around hundred women assembled in Panth Chowk area and held a protest against the recent killings in Kashmir, in which more than fifty people were killed by the state forces since July 09, 2016.

In view of the joint resistance group’s protest call that “women will assemble in their respective localities after Asr prayers and will hold special prayers for Martyrs and for the success of the freedom struggle of Kashmir: the pro-freedom women activists should led the prayer meetings”, the state forces have already deployed their forces across Kashmir.

Overnight protests were also reported from Shopian district.

Despite clashes at some places on Monday, some activities of life were noticed in parts of Srinagar city as private vehicles and pedestrian movement was seen almost after three weeks. But on Tuesday curfew like situation was reported from city areas like Batamaloo.

Train services, educational institutions, banks, post offices and government offices except essential services like health, water supply, electricity, food supplies, police and fire services are still shut.
