The State Government will be providing multi-utility indoor stadiums to all the 22 districts of the state to groom sports talent among the youth.
This information was given at a meeting convened here Friday to review the activities of the Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council, an official spokesperson said this evening.
The meeting was chaired by Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Moulvi Imran Raza Ansari.
Commissioner Secretary, Youth Services and Sports, Hilal Ahmad Parray and Secretary J&K Sports Council, Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra besides other officers were present at the meeting.
The meeting was informed that the Government of India has provided Rs 4 crore each for construction of indoor sports stadiums in all the 22 districts of the State. “These stadiums would offer multi-utility sports facilities for the local youth to groom their talent,” the meeting was told.
The meeting also reviewed the progress of other projects including up-gradation and renovation of the existing sports stadiums in Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking at the meeting the Minister called for expediting work on all the projects to make available world class sports infrastructure to the local youth.
He said Rs 200 crore have been provided under Prime Minister’s Development Package (PMDP) for reconstruction of the existing stadia on international specifications, creation of water sports centre at Manasbal and construction of multipurpose indoor sports halls in all districts.
It would be great if they could give independence to all the 22 districts instead of these indoor sports stadiums. Who give a f..k about them!
providing indoor sports fascilities in all districts. it will lead the youth to the wrong direction. bcoz everyone will not b ecome the international player then to make physical education and sports as carrer based. had u thought ever of creating jobs in that sector. mr ansari u make pgysical education compulsory from 6th class to 10th. had u think of creating the posts. it was in 2005 when court issues orders for appointing ReK in the pattern of ReT. what u did . u and ur all administratiin is merely a failure one. had a gud seat in assembly
