Hurriyat  Conference (G) on Sunday condemned the arrest of five youth from Bandipora and shifting them to Kotbalwal Jail Jammu, arresting of dozens of youth from Kupwara in night raids and continue detention of pro-freedom leader and said that “Jan Sangh led regime in Delhi has virtually turned Jammu and Kashmir into a battlefield.”

The spokesman of Hurriyat (G) in a statement said that they are pushing people to the wall and warned administration of dire consequences if such brutalities and lawlessness against people are not stopped.

“Police booked five persons under public safety act (PSA) in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on stone pelting charges. Aadil Bashir Bhat son of Bashir Ahmad Bhat a resident of Nusoo, Muhammad Azhar Din Parrey son of Abdul Rahman Parrey of Chandegeer Hajin, Farooq Ahmad Ganai son of Ghulam Ahmad Ganai, Sajad Hussain Ganai son of Ghulam Rasool Ganai and Bilal Ahmad Ganai son of Bashir Ahmad Ganai all residents of Ganai Mohalla Kaloosa  have been booked under PSA and where shifted to Kotbalwal Jail Jammu,” Spokesman of Hurriyat (G) said in a statement.

“While condemning the night raids in Kupwara Hurriyat said that after the killing of Dr Manan Wani, police have arrested dozens of youth, which created the fear among to the entire district populace,” he said.

Terming the election drama a military operation, the Hurriyat (G) spokesman in a statement said that “had the rulers even an iota of self esteem or a slight trace of respect for their so-called democracy, they would have not caged the leaders and political workers thereby exhibiting a one-man show to achieve their goal of conducting shame elections.”

“Hurriyat Conference said that Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Mohammad Umar Farooq & Mohammad Ashraf Sehraie remains under house arrest. While as Mohammad Yasin Malik is detained in Subjail Kothibagh & Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar & Hakim Ab Rashid at Kotbalwal, Nisar Hussain Rather, Mohammad Yousuf Naqash, Mohammad Ashraf Laya, Mir Hafizullah, Raies Ahmad Mir, Noor Mohammad Kalwal, Showkat Ahmad Bakshi, Mohammad Yaseen Aataie, Syed Imtiyaz Haider, Ashiq Hussain Narchoor, Sartaj Ahmad and Danish Ahmad and hundreds of other activists are either lodged in jail or in police stations,” the spokesman added.

“Hailing the steadfastness and determination prisoners of conscience languishing in different jails in and outside state especially Tihar jail which include Shabir Ahmad Shah, Asia Andrabi, Fahmeedah Sofi, Naheedah Nasreen, Peer Saifullah, Altaf Ahamad Shah, Ayaz Akbar, Raja Meraj-ud-Din Kalwal, Nayeem Ahamad Khan, Shahid-ul-Islam, Farooq Ahamad Dar, Shahid Yousaf, Syed Shakeel Ahmad, Zahoor Ahmad Watali, Dr Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, Muzaffar Ahamad Dar, Dr. Mohammad Qasim, Dr. Shafi Sharity, Ghulam Quadir Bhat, Musarat Alam Bhat, Tariq Ahamad Dar, Ghulam Mohammad Khan Sopori, Mohammad Yousaf Mir, Ab. Gani Bhat, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Farooq Tawheedi, Mohammad Ayoub Mir, Shawkat Ahmad Khan, Nazir Ahmad Denter, Bilal Ahmad Kota, Bashir Ahmad Qureshi, Umar Aadil Dar, Ashiq Hussain Bhat, Basharat Ahmad Mir, Manzoor Ahmad Najar, Riyaz Ahmad Dar, Latif Ahmad Rather, Lateef Ahmad Dar, Showkat Ahmad Ganie, Mushtaq Ahmad Ganie, Sajad Ahmad Bhat, Hakeem Showkat, Mehraj-ud-din Gojri, Sajad Molvi, Abdul Hamid Bhat, Farooq Ahmad Shah, Abdul Rashid Magloo, Sirajudin etc,” he said.

“Hurriyat said that authorities under a well-thought conspiracy prolong their detention and are not released despite quashing their detentions by their own courts and directed state authorities for their release, yet they were rearrested,” said Hurriyat (G) spokesman.

He said, “Hurriyat Conference condemned the arrests and called it as an extreme vandalism and coercion, which depicts a martial law like situation, said that suppressing even the pro-freedom voice and curbing their peaceful activities is no bravery but shameful and cunning cowardness, which government itself be responsible for the consequences.”

“While demanding the immediate release of all political prisoners including leaders, Hurriyat said that by pushing people to wall India will achieve nothing, they should face the political leaders and workers on political turf,” spokesman of Hurriyat (G) said in a statement.

  1. How about the children & grand children of geelani, under which circumstances they do not join the terrorists & why don’t they shun government jobs. For how many decades they can deceive and befool the Kashmiri public. A day will come when they will run to Indian Government for safety but it will be too late. After all we cannot ignore that God is watching them
