Srinagar

Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK)  on Wednesday expressed strong resentment over unruly behaviour of Deputy Mayor Srinagar with an on-duty doctor at Chest Disease Hospital, an associated hospital of Government Medical College Srinagar.

“It is now routine that different ward members, Panchs Sarpanchs and now Deputy Mayor are routinely interfering in hospitals to get political mileage as our hospitals remain flooded with the public,” DAK said in a statement.

“The on-duty doctor was busy and was filling a referral form of a 60-year-old female patient who was suffering from mediastinal mass and SVC obstruction,” the statement said.

DAK president, Dr Suhail Naik said that “such interference is a common phenomenon and we warn them to mind their own work. Rather than interfering in technical issues of the medical profession, it was better for him to focus on hospital sanitation, drainage, water supply, and electricity.”

“Our hospitals are working round the clock through every situation and disaster for which we have been appreciated and recognised at the national level and have received awards in health delivery system in tandem,” Dr Naik further said.

“From his physical and verbal gestures, it does not seem he has got the education from a western country. It was better for him to get moral education from some primary school of Kashmir,”Dr Naik added.

Dr Owais H Dar General secretary DAK said  “It is not SMC that is paying salary to doctors; we are being paid through the taxes of people and we are working here for the people. This illegitimate and illiterate behaviour of any official cannot be accepted under any circumstances.”

DAK urges His Excellency, Governor of J&K, Satya Pal Malik and Advisor for Health and Medical Educations, K Vijay Kumar to take strong note and action against the erring and unruly behaviour of the Deputy Mayor.

  1. I have no concent to interfere in this matter which strikes between a doctor and dy mayor, but a experice I want to reflect a little about the accident happend two years ago ,my grand mom was suffering with lung disease and we admit her in CD hospital ,
I felt there we live in stone age 100s of years ago from this present era no doctors were available there punctully ,nurses were busy with the chit chat each other mobile phones etc, then we took her away and admited her in SMHS.where to some how facilities and drs nurses were available ,
What I want to sat that rather then an argument with dy mayor I suggest him to look in the menagements and confess the mistakes of his forum .that is good and better for the people from whom he drawn his salary .
    Thank you.
