RasheedDemanding strong and immediate action against the “goons” who attacked local Kashmiri students and locals working in NIT Srrinagar, MLA Langate Er Rasheed has warned of dire consequences if the acts of “harassing, torturing and humiliating” Kashmiris is not stopped within and outside J&K. While addressing a press conference along with Imtiyaz Ahmad Sheikh, who was beaten to pulp by the “non-state subject students” in NIT, Er Rasheed accused J&K police of giving a free hand to these “goons”, who have been receiving appreciations from RSS and other right wing Hindu organizations for daring to attack Kashmiris in their own land.

Revealing the details Imtiyaz narrated the terrible and horrible story related of the incident that took place on 1st of April in the premises of NIT.

He said that the goons carried a “murderous assault” on him after his refusal to chant slogans of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and beat him with cricket bat and other sharp objects. “After I was rendered injured and unconscious I was shifted to SKIMS where I was provided treatment, however I got many stitches and the wounds are still bleeding.”

Speaking on the occasion Er Rasheed demanded that FIR under section 307 and relevant sections be registered without further delay in the matter, as Imtiyaz has already moved an application in the police station Nigeen. Er Rasheed further added that if police shows reluctance in lodging FIR, we will be forced to have a sit in at NIT and may also use other legal remedies. “The same police which is treating these goons like special guests, has made life of youth of Downtown miserable and hell just for the reason that it wants to please New Delhi. Let police not force us to behave the same way as Raj Thakray and his colleagues have been doing with the outsiders.”

Er Rasheed also expressed his serious concern over the continuous harassment of Kashmiri students in various institutions and universities all over India and said that the Kashmiris students in Bharkatullah University Bhopal are facing the worst.
