J&K’s Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs and Relief & Rehabilitation, Syed Basharat Bukhari has stated that all the Evacuee Property allotments or auctions having any deviation from will be “properly investigated”. He said it whole reviewing the functioning of the EP department that takes care of the property that people left behind while fleeing from J&K after partition, an official spokesman said.

Bukhari underscored the need to formulate a policy to enhance commercial activity through developing multipurpose commercial establishments over the vacant Evacuee Property land to make it a recurring source of revenue generation.

The Minister received detailed overview of the status of various properties being administered and managed by the Evacuee Department including over 14 Lakh Kanals of Land in Jammu Division and over 58000 Kanals of land in Kashmir Division besides houses, shops, flats, orchards and other properties administered in both divisions.

The Minister sought details on allotments and auctions carried out by the Evacuee Department, adding that any deviation from rules in such allotments or auctions will be properly investigated. The Minister directed the concerned officers to submit the details within a week.

In order to streamline the functioning of the Evacuee Department, the Minister directed Commissioner Secretary Revenue to ask the concerned Deputy Commissioners to provide updated Revenue records of the evacuee properties to the Department. The Minister further directed the Commissioner Secretary to depute Patwaris to the Evacuee Department to facilitate work at the ground level.

  1. After many U turns at the behest of bjp, only fools would believe this govt or its ministers. We are sure this govt will sell us at the lowest possible rates rather free of cost.
