After nearly one month of house detention, Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman Syed Ali Geelani was allowed on Thursday to undertake a medical checkup in SKIMS Soura where doctors diagnosed Cervical Spondylotic Myelopathy (Spinal Cord Compression) in his neck and advised him to consult an orthopedic. This was the first medical check of Geelani since he arrived here from Delhi on March 7.

Geelani while confirming to KNS about his checkup said, that a team of doctors led by director SKIMS, Dr Shoukat Zarger conducted his thorough check up.

“During the check up, they diagnosed arthritis in my neck and have advised me to consult the orthopedic specialist.” Geelani told KNS, who had also a complaint of pain in the left side of his heart.

Meanwhile SKIMS Director Dr. Shoukat Zarger told KNS that Geelani spent about half an hour with doctors who carried out USG, ECG and other tests on him. According to Zarger, overall condition of Geelani was stable however; he added that, the ailing separatist leader had developed arthritis in his neck and has been advised to consult an orthopedic specialist.

Pertinently HOD, Cardiology SKIMS, Dr. Khursheed Iqbal had accompanied Geelani in 2002 and 2003  in Mumbai and Ranchi , where the octogenarian  leader was operated upon.
