In a bid to claim hefty sum from Insurance Company, a driver intentionally threw his LP Truck into deep gorge in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

Police sources told CNS that an LP truck (JK02AV-2235) on way to Srinagar from Kargil skidded off the road near Gadribal Ganiwan Kangan and fell into 200 feet deep gorge.

“We were surprised to find driver missing from the gorge. The parts of the truck were scattered into pieces all over the gorge but neither the driver nor the conductor was present there,” Station House Officer police station Gund, Rayees Hasan Wani told CNS.

The police officer said as they started investigating the matter, one of person identifying himself the driver of the LP Truck called the police and said that he is safe and sound in Srinagar. “We are looking into the matter and the reason behind the incident,” Wani said.

Police sources said that truck was intentionally thrown into the gorge to claim hefty amount from the insurance company. “Initial investigation has revealed that before throwing truck into the gorge the driver jumped from it and fled from the scene,” one of the police official said.
