SRINAGAR
Ms Jawahira Shawl, founder of a English language weekly, Kashmir Life, passed away on Sunday, April 07, 2013 at her residence in Deviangan, Srinagar. She was 48.
She was the daughter of Late Ghulam Mohiuddin Shawl of Saida Kadal.
Jawahira’s commitment to Kashmir, its history, and to spreading an understanding of its present inspired her to establish Kashmir Life in 2009. Before she lost her life to cancer, Jawahira saw the weekly magazine reasonably established as a credible source of news, analysis and varied perspectives on some of the most important events and processes that have shaped the Kashmir we live in.
May Allah rest her soul in peace and keep injecting granting strength to her dream of responsible journalism.
