After holding strong protests at University of Kashmir against the premature conduct of B Ed examinations, the authorities on Monday decided to postpone the scheduled examination which will now be held October 20 onwards.

Reports reaching GNS said that hundreds of students on Monday morning assembled at Examination Wing of University of Kashmir and staged strong protests against the early conduct of B Ed exams.

“Every year our exams are held in the month of November but we fail to understand what happened to university authorities this year as they are going to conduct our exams so early, from September 28,” Saima Mir, a B Ed student from Srinagar told GNS, adding that “it is injustice on our part as we are not prepared for exams.”

“Our syllabus is also incomplete as there are still two months remaining for the actual scheduled date for exams, how we can prepare ourselves in such a short span of time,” Saima added.

Another student from SSM B Ed College while expressing anguish over the premature scheduling of exams said that in September, B Ed exam for private/backlog candidates is held. “This year, they (KU authorities) want to conduct both regular as well as private/backlog simultaneously much to our shock and distress.”

“No one among us is ready for exams, we will continue our protests till the decision is revoked,” students while waiting for the final decision from authorities told GNS.

Meanwhile, a higher official from university while talking to GNS said the B Ed exams will be conducted from October 20 onwards. “We held a meeting with students and reached a consensus to give them a month for exam preparation. Now we’ll be looking to start exams 20th of next month onwards.
