Though the state is already witnessing trouble over the implementation of National Food Security Act (NFSA), people from South Kashmir’s Kulgam district Wednesday accused Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution department (CA&PD) of turning blind eye towards the deserving while according undue benefits to others.

Inhabitants of Khuri Batapora, Watto Manzgam, Devsar, Qaimouh, Singhpora and Wachigam areas of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district have accused the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department for issuing ration cards to undeserving consumers.

“The locals allege that there is huge discrimination in the four categories announced by the state government. The families having huge monthly income have been adjusted in the categories, which are meant for the poor sector,” locals said.

They said they approached several higher ups in this regard but nothing has been done in this regard.

The authorities in the department have issued family ration cards to those persons who are yet to get married, adding, “Nobody is paying heed over such kind of happenings in the department.”

ACR Kulgam said that the people who have been wrongly mentioned in the category should come with an application so that the errors could be rectified.

MLA Noorabad, Abdul Majid Padder said that a strict action will be taken against the people involved in it and the department should identify those persons soon. (KNS)
