Barely a few days after a top officer of the Ministry of Human Resources ruled out the role of any NGO in securing admissions or scholarship under Special Scholarship Scheme for J&K (SSSJK), the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has come with an online way out for filing the forms.

The registration process is open from July 16, 2013 to August 3, 2013, 5 pm.

For the 5000 scholarships available, the eligibility criteria for the applicants is to be permanent residents of the state, having a yearly family income of less than Rs six lakh ruppees. All must have twelfth class or an equivalent passed. They can seek admission to degree level programs outside the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

Procedure for Registration / Admissions to Engineering / Medicine and General  Education streams and recommendation for grant of scholarship  under J&K Special Scholarship Scheme for 2013-14

One should have eligibility Class 12 or equivalent marks, as stipulated by respective regulatory bodies, to avail the scholarship. Besides, passing criteria of Class 12 or equivalent should be from State Board of J&K or from CBSE affiliated school located in J&K.

“Family Annual Income should be below Rs 6.0 Lakh per annum,” reads the guideline of said scholarship.

The number of recipients of the J&K SSS will be 250 each for Engineering and Medicine streams respectively. In case of General education stream, this number is 4500. The number of scholarships for engineering and medical studies would be kept flexible i.e. more than or less than 250 scholarships per annum, for each of these streams, subject to the ceiling of 5000 fresh scholarships per annum and subject to the savings accruing from any shortfall in the number of students opting for general degree courses. Reservations for the backward category and physically handicapped students will be as per the state govt. norms.

MHRD scholarships, which ran in rough weather for some time, cover Tuition Fee and Ceiling for Hostel Fee and incidentals (per annum) in Rupees in three courses.

The scholarship covers Rs 30,000 tuition fee per annum in General Education, besides Rs 1 lakh as hostel fee and other incidentals.

For engineering education, tuition fee of Rs 1.25 lakh is being covered by scholarship, besides Rs 1 lakh as hostel fee and other incidentals. For medical education, Rs 3 lakh per annum is being covered, besides Rs 1 lakh as hostel fee and other incidentals are also offered.

“Payment would be at actual subject to above limits,” the scholarship guideline informs.

The phase one mode of registration is online. “All eligible students desirous of availing the J&K SSS for 2013-14 will have to register online (through a unique user id and password allotted to them) on the AICTE web portal,” read guidelines.

The students who have already taken admissions on their own are also required to register online. Registration on the AICTE portal shall be as per schedule given on Merit list based on the Class 12 marks shall be displayed as per given schedule.

“In the Registration Form, a student shall be allowed to fill 20 options for choice of institute and course, in the order of priority (eg, XYZ College and Mechanical Engineering is one choice),” the guidelines instruct aspirants.

Students are advised to check the eligibility norms as applicable to the University to which they wish to apply.

The allotment of seats based on the choice and merit shall be on all the applicants, who are admitted to an approved Institution, shall confirm such admission as per the given schedule. “Those who fail to confirm the admissions before the last date will automatically lose any claim on the seat allotted to them, and will also forfeit their chance of being considered under J&K scholarship scheme,” the guideline reads.

The scholarship instructs all Head/Principal/Director/VC of the Institution where the student is admitted to mail a scanned copy of the student reporting letter at [email protected] latest as per schedule: “It is to be noted that the validity of the original documents required at the time of admission is the responsibility of the admitting Institution. However, further processing shall be based on the vacancies, if any.”

The phase second of scholarship is an entry for fee details. “All the admitted students in this process shall now renter the online portal using their login and pass word, and enter the fee and other details as required as per given schedule,” the guidelines read.

The heads of the institute, the scholarship guidelines instructs, shall also submit a hard copy of the documents with the original receipts of all the payments made by the student, authentication and undertaking from the head of the institute to AICTE Head Office.

“AICTE will process all the applications received (both online and in hard copy from the institute) and submit the final list of eligible students to MHRD as per given schedule. The scholarship amount will be credited to the account of the concerned student through DBT immediately thereafter,”  the guideline reads.

For the verification of documents by AICTE, two centres, one in Delhi and one in Chandigarh and any other as required, will be notified where all admitted candidates shall report on a specified date, with all concerned documents which were made available at the time of admission for verification by AICTE authorities.

“This is required to check the validity/claims of the student for his/her admission,” the scholarship guidelines read.

Conformation of Admission to the respective Institution will be declared on or before 31st August 2013.

  1. I have not yet applied in any of the college for professional course, rather I am pursuing my 3 yrs degree and have appeared for 1st Yr of of my course, Neither I have taken JEE Main 2013. Am I eligible for applying this scholarship/courses/streams allocatted under this scheme. Pl let me know the list of colleges and courses/streams I can take with 64.2% marks obtained in qualifying exam i.e. 12th from JKBOSE.

  2. Sir i have submit the dublicate documents in the peace foundation office rajbag sgr and i have make draft on the college of 25000 and i have joined the college but when we see the slection list my name is not listed and we became diprees in college
    i have applied for b pharma plz give me some sugesstions

  3. Sir my documents are lying with jk peace foundation as I have applied for AICTE scholarship through this foundation but they havent produced them to concerned college….Sir they cheated me….please give me some suggestion what should I do….

Sir,i have submitted the required documents in the peace foundation office sgr. n i have olso made a draft of 25000 for Inderprastha dental college,Delhi.But my name is not mentioned in the selected list that was displayed 10 or 12 days ago.So,kindly please tell me what is the trick behind this and what should we do now.
