SRINAGAR

Taking notice of the setting up of office camps in Srinagar, Islamabad, Jammu and Udhampur by the Indian investigation agency (NIA) and their plans of establishing permanent base in the state, All Parties Hurriyat Conference led by octogenarian Syed Ali Geelani said that this is the “clear violation of the special status” and constitution of the state and this action does not have any legal and moral justification.

“If permission is granted for the permanent office of NIA in the state, it will be resisted tooth and nail and we will launch a public agitation against any such move,” a statement by Hurriyat (g) said Wednesday evening.

“Jammu & Kashmir is internationally acknowledged disputed territory and it does not fall into the direct ambit of any Indian central agency. Jammu & Kashmir has its own constitution other than India and that constitution too does not allow that in the presence of state police and other investigation agencies the NIA will intervention here and will register cases against the citizen of Jammu & Kashmir in any state of India,” the statement said.

The Hurriyat amalgam lashed out at the state government that instead of stopping the direct intervention of NIA in the state affairs, they are “co-operating in their illegal activities here”.

“This is criminal attitude of the state administration and it amounts to the violation of the Ranbir Panel Code (RPC),” the statement added.

Expressing its deep concern and anguish over the reports that some officers of the Indian Investigation agency NIA have made their activities as the “major source of extortion and earning dollars”, the Hurriyat (g) statement further said, “according to the information received in this regard, the NIA personnel locate phone numbers of financially well of people and then harass them on baseless charges and threaten to frame Hawala money charges against them. And then receive huge bucks from the people who get terrified by their threats.”

“We will not remain silent over this issue and if the state government did not fulfil its responsibility in stopping the direct involvement of NIA in the state, the people will be forced to come on the roads to protest against the terrorist activities of NIA,” the statement said.

  1. Calling Criminals as criminals is no big deal. Mr. mufti has been at delhi’s foot service since his poltical career started. he helped sadiq destroy kashmir, its constitutional status, and its own constitution. He may, in coming days, inaugurate togadia’s office in kashmir. he is meant for this and he has already made deals with communal bjp to divide JK and enslave kashmiris to the hilt. no surprises. criminals are meant o commit crime.
