Kashmir Constructional Workers Union Friday strongly condemned the alleged thrashing of Gulzar Ahmad, Assistant Labour Commissioner (ALC) Ganderbal in his office chambers by one Ayaz Afzal, who is son of PDP leader Qazi Afzal. Ayaz has been booked by police.
Terming the incident as unfortunate and uncalled for, KCWU in a statement issued here today said such hooliganism in any civilized society is not acceptable and those responsible must be identified and punished as per the law of the land.
KCWU reiterated its demand for immediate release of scholarship and financial assistance due to the wards of labour class pending since 2014.
Ayaz Ahmad Qazi has been booked under section 506 (related to criminal intimidation), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees or more) of the Ranbir Penal Code, reports said.
System has to reign in to stop such activity.
