SRINAGAR

While criticizing the ruling National Conference (NC) for organizing a function to pay tributes to late Mirwaiz Mohammad Farooq and Abdul Gani Lone, the independent lawmaker Engineer Rashid has alleged that NC can go to any extent in order to get votes. “If Ali Mohammad sagar and his party honestly believe that these two leaders have sacrificed their lives for the honour and dignity of the state then why didn’t NC joined resistances movement in 1989 and left Kashmiris at the mercy of forces,” he said.

MLA Langate in a statement  said, “Who does not know that NC has been crying all along since 1989 that the resistance movement, of which Lone and Mirwaiz were front pioneers, is a movement started at the behest of Pakistan and separatists are befooling people.” He further added, “There is a difference between the mission of Lone, Mirwaiz and that of NC. Though it is debatable how far these Hurriyat leaders have been able to do justice with the noble cause. Hurriyat has been fighting for the resolution of Kashmir issue and clearly calling it a disputed territory while as NC has been calling J&K as ‘Attot Ang’ and is working as an extension of intelligence agencies of New Delhi who want  Kashmiris to surrender ten times a day.”

Rasheed while addressing his workers at Panzala Rafiabad further said, “The history reveals that Kashmiris treat NC as root cause for all their miseries though had seen some hope when Omar Abbdullah had promised to restore their honour and dignity and get Kashmir issue resolved but couldn’t or didn’t move even an inch and preferred to curb the dissent and genuine voice of Kashmiris both in and outside assembly.”

While reacting over the statement for the NC leadership who recently desired for Omar-Umar unity, Rasheed said, “If NC leadership believes in Mirwaiz’s ideology then it must first accept Hurriyat constitution and then offer Mirwaiz to change his strategy to achieve the goal and contest elections. The people of Kashmir are mature enough to judge the childish behavior of NC and do not take the NC stage shows directed by New Delhi seriously.” He further added that the attempt was to befool the people and create confusions within the ranks of Hurriyat just to implement the ‘principle of divide and rule’, but Kashmiris know that “since 1947 NC’s one point agenda has been to grab power by hook or crook.”

He further dared the NC government to lift the restriction on Geelani and release all those political prisoners who are following the mission of late Abdul Gani Lone and Mirwaiz Moulana Farooq if NC is so sincere.
