“Read the writing on wall”, this is what Chairman Hurriyat ( G) Syed Ali Geelani suggested to the Prime Minister of India Dr Manmohan Singh, who is on two day visit to the State.
While thanking people for observing complete shutdown, Geelani has asked Dr Singh to shun traditional stubborn approach and fulfill commitment with respect to the resolution of Kashmir issue.
In his direct address to Prime Minister, Geelani said that “during last 65 years you have achieved a lot of experience and with your all military might tried to change the motives and aspirations , and after announcing the packages and privileges, you failed to change the hard realities,” and added “instead of all your attempts, situation remained unchanged and uncertainty and instability in Kashmir still prevails”.
Geelani said that people of Jammu and Kashmir are committed with the movement and won’t give up their struggle despite all these oppressive measures.
“Announcement of packages or inauguration of railway lines and power projects can not heal the wounds and nor hurt sentiments of people of Kashmir can be satisfied. Kashmir is neither an economic problem nor an issue related to good or bad management,” he said and added that Kashmir issue is a historical reality and VIP visits or construction activities can not resolved it.
Geelani asks Dr Singh that if he desires that his visit should deliver some good then he should accept the reality and come with explanation and disclose those involved in gang rape in Kunan Poshapora ,the persons responsible for forced disappearance of ten thousand youth.
“He should make an announcement for independent inquiry in these incidents and announce that without any fear or favour perpetrators of these incidents would be punished under the law, if he wishes to make his visit to be of historical importance ,” said Geelani adding that Dr Singh should make an announcement for revocation of draconian laws and release all prisoners from jails .
While declaring the proposed closed door meeting with Saif u Din Soz and Omar Abdullah as futile, Geelani said, “ Prime Minister cannot feel the inner aspirations of suppressed Kashmir’s during these meetings nor he would know the hard reality, and instead he should visit Kunan Posha Pora village, visit the unmarked graveyards, listen to woeful tale of innocent son of Shaheed Mohamad Afzal Guroo and interact those parents ,whose wards were brutally killed in year 2008 and 2010 in indiscriminate fringe by Indian forces.”
Geelani rejected the notion of having something personal with the visiting leaders and said that “we as Kashmiri have nothing personal against you and Mrs. Sonia Gandhi and added however the people of Jammu and Kashmir do protest because both of you figure among the prominent personalities of that country that with its military might and repressive measures have occupied the state, lakhs of Kashmiris killed by its army and has trampled on our honor and dignity.”
“The people of Kashmir are not unrealistic in their approach nor they are fanatic, instead our people are a peace-loving nation and we want peaceful solution of Kashmir issue .This war has been imposed on us by India,” he added.
Geelani said that in principle we are not against negotiations, however, India in order to delay the issue and for just fun is trying to mislead the international community.
“Till now the issue was discussed 150 times but no result were yielded because of the stubbornness of approach of India,” he added.
