Doctors Association Kashmir on Saturday appealed the government to arrange a special morning flight from Srinagar to Jammu January 6, 2019, for NEET MD/MS aspirants.

The entrance examination throughout the country is going to be held on Sunday, January 6, and a large number of candidates from Kashmir has failed to reach Jammu due to inclement bad weather conditions. As NEET examination is a national level examination and can’t be postponed, it is, therefore, moral responsibility of the state government to arrange a morning flight for aspiring candidates on war footing basis.

Failure to arrange air transport will mar the career of hundreds of Doctors who have burned their midnight oil to crack this prestigious exam and get admission in different post-graduation streams. Alternatively, their exam may be held at already approved NEET centres for Srinagar.

In this regard, the Deputy Commissioner of Srinagar has arranged vehicles for the aspirants in case they are leaving by road. “Kind Attn NEET Aspirants-For the benefit of those students who missed out on going by the aircraft & whose exams are taking place tmrw, you can leave by road also. Administration has coordinated with Traffic Authority.SSP traffic Rural Kmr Muzaffar Sab will help & is on 9419000250,” DC Srinagar wrote on his twitter handle.

Earlier in a day, a group of doctors, appearing in NEET examination with centres in Jammu and New Delhi, got stuck at Srinagar International Airport due to the suspension of all flights amid inclement weather.

The doctors told over the phone that they are going to appear in the all India level NEET PG examination, scheduled tomorrow. “Some of us have centres in Jammu and others in New Delhi. The flights have not taken off due to snowfall meaning thereby that we cannot make it examination centres,” they said.

The aspirants appealed Governor-led administration to have examinations rescheduled in wake of the emergency situation.

  1. Equality of opportunity is an essential part of Equality before law, one of the fundamental rights guaranteed by the Constitution to a citizen. The government should intervene to secure this right of the citizens who would suffer otherwise for no fault of theirs as adequate number of examination centres obviously have not been allocated for Kashmir Division.
