Sopore Gunfight Restarts, Army Officer Shot At

Fresh gunfight started between militants and government forces on Wednesday morning in Saidpora Sopore where five militants got killed a day before. A police spokesman said that one officer of 22 RR was shot by the hiding militants against whom the operation is going on.

The gunfight that restarted in the wee hours Wednesday is going on, police spokesman said.
The fight ensued after government forces surrounded a large area in Saidpora village, two km from Sopore town two days back.

Since then five militants have been killed, police said and added that during ongoing search operations, the militants opened fire with automatic weapons, triggering the fresh gunfight.

“One major Abhjeet was shot by militants and he has been shifted in critical condition,” police spokesman said.
