Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik Sunday said that the pain and agony of all oppressed nations is one.

“You can kill people but you cannot kill the idea and the ideology. It will pass it on to the younger generation. Throughout world history, no freedom movement was defeated,” Malik according to a JKLF statement said while addressing people in Cuddalore city of Tamil Nadu.

“The pain and agony of all oppressed nations is one and I am here to share your pain and sufferings and tell you about my nations sufferings,” he added. The event was organized by the Naam Tamizhar Katchi, a leading party fighting for the cause of Tamils. The program which was to be held at Manchakupam grounds was banned by police and authorities who withdrew the earlier permission granted for the program at midnight. A JKLF statement said.

Known Tamil actor, director, social worker and leader of the Naam Tamizhar Katchi Seeman, Tamil professor Abdul Qadeer, Prof Aruliar, Shahud Hamid alongwith Malik later spoke at the meeting held as part of a day-long pro-Eelam symposium.

Pointing at similarities between the struggles in Kashmiri and Tamil, Malik said, “You are not alone in this struggle. We are together. Our sufferings are the same. I am here to show solidarity with the Tamil people, who are fighting for their freedom.”

“Today we the oppressed have been banned to raise our voices for truth and justice by the so called biggest democracy of the world. It is unfortunate, undemocratic and unjustified. Military operation was launched against the Tamils in Sri Lanka while the dialogue process was on,” he said.

Malik added that a peace process was going on between Tamils and Sri Lanka “but all of a sudden Sri Lankan forces started a massacre of Tamils.” “Today I want to convey to all Tamils that oppressors are always same. Right now, Kashmir is the most militarized zone in the world. Every military option was used to break the will of the people there but they could not succeed,” he said. “We have tolerated jails, hangings, life imprisonments, torture, massacre, custodial disappearances and killings and genocide. Today our teen aged boys languish in jails under PSA. Today we face army wrath equipped with AFPSA and other black laws. But no one from India is raising his voice for us.”

The JKLF chairman said, “Our father of nation Muhammad Maqbool Bhat, and recently Muhammad Afzal Guru were hanged in Delhi’s Tihar jail. Authorities also buried them inside the jail. Even our demand of returning back their bodies is not accepted by the Indian rulers. Indian rulers along with people who dub themselves with Gandhi, civil society and Indian media are hell bent against Kashmiri’s and a negative propaganda is going on against kashmiris.”

He urged and said, “We all should come together to oppose the imperialist power in the whole world. We all shall believe that the last victory always belongs to the oppressed not to the oppressors. We all will see the day of independence and our nations will stand in the row of other respectable nations one day,” he said.

Thousands of people present in the hall raised slogans in favor of liberation of subjugated nations, Kashmir freedom struggle and against the oppression and oppressors. The JKLF statement said.
