Women Among Two Held as Police Solve Burglary in Central Kashmir

   

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police in central Kashmir’s Budgam district have solved a burglary case and have arrested two accused persons involved in the commission of crime and recovered stolen property from their possession.

“On 23/06/2024, Police Post Humhama received a complaint from Asrar Gul resident of LD Colony Sanat Nagar stating therein that on 15th June 2024, he hired a lady for cleaning services at his residence in anticipation of Eid ul Adha celebrations, during which he suspected that she had stolen some gold ornaments from the house,” a police spokesperson said in a statement.

“Accordingly, a case vide FIR No 244/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Budgam and investigation was initiated,” it said.

“During the course of investigation, the alleged lady namely Ruby Begum W/o Gh Hassan Khan resident of Gogipora Kanihama Nowgam was brought for questioning. During questioning, she confessed her involvement in the theft leading to the partial recovery of the stolen gold items. During further investigation, Ruby Begum disclosed that she had sold some of the stolen jewellery to a goldsmith named Parvaiz Ahmad Bhat, son of Late Gh Nabi Bhat, resident of Tailbal Road Rashi Mohalla Shalimar, Srinagar. Both the accused persons were arrested and stolen gold ornaments valued at approximately Rs. 4 lakh were recovered from their possession,” the police said.

“Further investigation of the case is going on,” the police said.
