Gas Explosion: Two Hospitalised with Severe Burns in Kashmir

   

SRINAGAR: An elderly woman and a young boy were injured in a gas cylinder explosion in the middle school of Jafarpora locality in Anantnag district on Saturday, officials said, adding that both have been hospitalised with burn injuries.

An official said that the 50-year-old woman, working as a cook at the school, and a 4-year-old boy were injured after a gas cylinder exploded, apparently due to a leakage.

He said that following the incident, both were shifted to SDH Bijbhera and later referred to SMHS Hospital Srinagar for advanced treatment.

“The woman has received 30 percent burn injuries, while the boy has received 60 percent burn injuries,” he said, adding that the fire caused by the explosion has been extinguished.

The woman has been identified as Hajira, wife of Abdul Ganie, and the boy as Zian, son of Mohammad Ashraf. (KNO)
