Iran President Raisi’s Demise: JK to Observe a Day of Mourning

   

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir will observe a one-day state mourning today as a mark of respect to Iranian President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, who passed away in a helicopter crash on Monday.

The national flag will fly at half-mast and there will be no official entertainment during the mourning period.

An order issued by GAD reads, “As a mark of respect to His Excellency Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran and His Excellency Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who passed away in a helicopter crash, the Government of India has decided that there shall be one day State Mourning on May 21, 2024 (Tuesday) throughout the country. It has been decided that the national flag shall fly at half-mast during the mourning on all buildings and places where it is flown regularly. There shall be no official entertainment during the mourning.”
